Nelson Anido – Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

I’m Nelson and I have long history with family pets. Our family dog when I was a child was not treated well and I have endeavored since then to treat all pets I encounter with the respect and love they deserve. I have friends that have entrusted me with their Poodle/Terrier mix dog named Muppet when they traveled abroad. I currently live with my roommate’s American Shorthair black cat T’Challa so I have experience with cats. My current favorite dog breed is Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I also love Pit Bulls and Bulldogs.

Julia Bergdoll – Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

Hi! My name’s Julia. I’m originally from the Boston area and have grown up around dogs my entire life. My mom owns a doggy daycare, so I’ve spent years walking dogs on one-on-one neighborhood walks, leading group hikes in the woods, and working as a daycare attendant supervising group play.  I also walked dogs through the Rover app throughout college and during the pandemic. I’ve had dogs of my own since I was five, including my current dog, Gracie, who I adopted during my junior year of college (she’s seven now!). My dog is my entire heart and soul so I understand the importance of hiring a dog sitter you can trust. I love dogs of all breeds and personalities, and have extensive experience with feeding and administering medication, reading canine body language, and caring for dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to gentle seniors. I can’t wait to meet your pups.

Taninna Oukacine – Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

Hey I’m Taninna and I absolutely love dogs and all kinds of animals! I’ve always been such an animal lover. I’ve had the pleasure in being various dog walker and dog sitter for a lot of my neighbors, friends, family and colleagues.   All dog breeds I’ve had such a love for but some of my favorites have been cocker spaniels, corgis, golden retrievers, French bulldogs and especially pugs. Oh my god I am obsessed with pugs and they genuinely bring me tears of joy every time I see them. I love comedy and love to make people laugh and spread happiness and joy! I’m an actor, singer, comedian and I love to travel, explore the world and learn languages. I’m definitely a very optimistic and overall passionate person.

Coralynn Figueroa – Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

My name is Coralynn Figueroa. I’ve been an animal lover since I was a little girl. Though I have grown up with cats, I have had an interest in just learning about every animal. In the case of dogs, I would read on their breeds, their personalities, the quirks of owning a dog and the benefits of being loved by one. After research and the physical experience of being a dog walker in Manhattan NY for three years, I love everything about dogs. My favorite breeds are huskies and shepherds. Specifically German & Australians. On my own time, I love working with children, making an impact on lives in genuine ways and connecting to myself through watching anime, reading my favorite books or dancing to all my favorite songs. I’m a free spirited, open minded person looking to spread much needed love and fun in anyway the world requires.

I’ve volunteered at a pet shelter in Westchester called the Lovejoy Foundation. I got my two current dogs from that shelter, and I volunteered to walk and play with the dogs and make them feel loved!! I love small dogs because I think they’re so cute and cuddly!! I can’t wait to walk more dogs and get my steps in!!

Shadira – Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

Hi, I’m Shadira, a lifelong animal lover with a special soft spot for dogs. I’m the kind of person who will always pull over for a stray! As a proud French Bulldog owner, I have plenty of experience with their unique needs and personalities, but I’m comfortable caring for all breeds and sizes, from tiny lap dogs to big, playful pups (thanks to my siblings’ dogs!).

Though I work full time, spending time with animals is truly my source of happiness and calm, my daily dose of serotonin and oxytocin. Whether it’s walking, playing, or just giving some extra love and attention, your furry family member will always be in kind, caring hands with me.

OUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

At Pawcific Dog Academy, our approach to dog training in Los Angeles centers on positive reinforcement and clear communication. Our training methods are rooted in scientific research on dog behavior and learning theory, not outdated dominance-based techniques.

We believe that effective obedience training builds trust between pet-parents and their dogs. By rewarding good behavior rather than punishing mistakes, we create dogs who are eager to learn and confident in various situations. This positive reinforcement approach is particularly effective when addressing specific issues like leash reactivity, separation anxiety, and reactive dog behaviors.

Our dog behaviorist team understands that behavior problems typically stem from confusion, fear, or unmet needs rather than defiance. Whether we’re working on basic obedience or complex behavior modification, we address underlying causes while teaching your dog what you want them to do instead. This creates lasting change that goes beyond superficial compliance.

Successful dog training requires educated pet owners. Throughout all our training sessions and obedience classes, we teach you to read your dog’s body language, understand their motivations, and apply our training methods independently. This knowledge empowers you to continue developing your dog’s skills long after your formal training program concludes, whether that’s progressing to advanced obedience or maintaining the good behavior you’ve established.

SERVICE AREA

Pawcific Dog Academy proudly serves dogs and their families throughout Los Angeles and surrounding communities. Our service area includes Huntington Beach, Pasadena, San Bernardino, Thousand Oaks, Santa Monica, Torrance and the surrounding areas!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does a dog training program take? The timeline for achieving your training goals varies based on your starting point and objectives. Basic obedience typically requires 4-6 weeks of consistent training sessions, while behavior modification for specific issues like separation anxiety, leash reactivity, or reactive dog behaviors may take 8-12 weeks or longer. Our professional dog trainer will provide a realistic timeline during your first session.

What’s the difference between private training sessions and group classes? Private training sessions offer personalized attention focused on your specific issues and training goals, ideal for behavior modification, reactive dogs, or pet-parents who need flexible scheduling. Group training classes provide socialization opportunities and are excellent for basic obedience and puppy training. Many dog owners benefit from combining both formats in their training program.

What age should I start obedience training? Puppy training can begin as early as 8 weeks old, and early training sets the foundation for good behavior throughout life. For adult dogs, it’s never too late! Our dog trainers have successfully worked with dogs of all ages using positive reinforcement training methods.

What training methods do you use? We use positive reinforcement-based training methods rooted in modern science on dog behavior. Our approach rewards good behavior rather than punishing mistakes, creating a better training experience for both dogs and pet-parents. As training progresses through your obedience classes or training sessions, we gradually reduce treat dependency while maintaining reliable responses.

Can you help with my reactive dog or leash reactivity? Absolutely. Behavior modification for reactive dogs and leash reactivity is one of our specialties. Our dog behaviorist team has extensive experience helping dogs who display aggression, fear, or over-excitement toward people, other dogs, or environmental triggers. During your first session, we’ll assess your dog’s specific issues and create a customized training plan.

Do you offer off leash training? Yes! Off leash reliability is part of our advanced obedience program. However, we first establish solid basic obedience and recall before progressing to off leash work. This ensures safety while achieving the freedom that both dog owners and their dogs enjoy.

Will training services work for separation anxiety? We’ve successfully helped many dogs overcome separation anxiety through systematic behavior modification. Our professional dog trainer team uses gradual desensitization and positive reinforcement to help your dog feel comfortable when alone. The training program timeline varies based on severity, but most pet-parents see significant improvement within 8-12 weeks.

Do I need to attend the training sessions? For private in-home training sessions and group classes, yes! We train pet-parents as much as we train dogs. Your participation ensures you understand our training methods and can maintain good behavior between sessions. For board and train programs, we provide comprehensive handoff training sessions when your dog returns home.

What happens during the first session? Your first session includes a thorough assessment of your dog’s current behavior, discussion of your training goals and specific issues, and an introduction to the training methods we’ll use. We’ll also begin working on initial obedience training or behavior modification techniques. This session helps our professional dog trainer create customized training plans for your unique situation.

How much do your training services cost? Our pricing varies based on whether you choose private training sessions, group training classes, or board and train programs. We offer packages for different training goals from basic obedience to advanced obedience and behavior modification. Contact us for detailed pricing and to discuss which training program is right for your needs as pet owners.
